In this time of uncertainty, artists are looking for alternative paths to monetization.
And the one piece of advice that is deafening right now is…
Livestreaming.
But that has created the same problem as before. You’re trying to get noticed in a very noisy and crowded field. You’re also now competing with major artists for people’s attention.
Now take a step back to reflect on whether you have ever asked yourself, “I wish I had more time to…”
Then why not take advantage and do something you couldn’t before?
Consider taking this gift of time to grow as an artist…
Improve upon or take up a new skill like recording, mixing, or mastering.
Learn to improve your songwriting.
Take online vocal or instrument lessons. YouTube has plenty of tutorials or find a coach or instructor that might be offering discounts.
Then take the time to practice that skill and get really good at it.
You might also want to read a few good industry books to help you with career strategy.
Research monetization alternatives to live streaming.
Find different platforms to live stream for monetization.
Most importantly, start reaching out and making connections with industry experts, but don’t pitch them your music.
Start by reaching out via social media or email to ask a question or comment on one of their posts.
Your goal is to build a solid relationship with them that will be there when life returns to normal and you’re ready to move forward with your music.
If you invest in yourself right now, you’ll have the information and connections to get the attention your career needs to grow.
