Daughter of a second wave feminist and a scientist turned computer guru; Sophie D’Orléans is an indie R&B singer-songwriter and pianist with a warm, inviting presence. Layering pop and jazz, her sound is soulful and dreamy. Lay back and indulge in her sweet melodies and zesty grooves. She released her first single From Me, on March 6th, 2020.⠀

She’s performed at City Folk’s Marvest Festival 2019, the Island Mountain Arts Songwriting Workshop at Arts Wells 2018, the Emerging Artist Showcase at the Hornby Island Festival 2018 and TedXUOttawaWomen in 2018. If you like Erykah Badu, Moonchild or Hiatus Kaiyote you’ll love Sophie D’Orléans.⠀

Sophie shared with me what it means to her personally to be an indie music woman artist:

“To me, it means taking ownership of how I spend my time. I get to decide what I will invest myself in. I get to let my creativity flow as well as plan out my future. It means I get to work with and meet a lot of people. It also means I wear many hats and have to be a well-rounded and grounded human being.“⠀

About Linda Garnett

Linda Garnett brings a diverse background in the arts to the field of music research and writing. Starting with a mentorship at radio station KFRC in San Francisco, she went on to acquire a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication and an Associate of Arts degree in Music Technology. She has earned a Digidesign operator certificate in Pro Tools post production. Linda is also a published music writer with works appearing in on-line publications such as the Legends of Rock “The ROCKIN’ NEWS”. With exemplary research skills and numerous connections in the music industry, Linda penetrates the veneer of populist opinion to illuminate deeper insights.
