Indie Music Women’s Featured Artist of the Day is…
Lina and The Lions (@linaandthelions)
From the ashes of 2020, up-and-coming independent artist Lina and the Lions are still blazing from their March single “Call Me”. But wasting no time at all their next offering from the upcoming album “Second Nature” is already upon us. New Single “Worth the Wait” is another synthy Art Pop earworm riding the crux of the 80s New Wave sound while bringing in a brand-new tide of ingenuity to the tune of warm synths and grinding bass.
Lina Lane had this to say; “I didn’t write the song about the pandemic. But there’s no getting away from that the song fits the situation like a glove! I wrote Worth the Wait about how no matter what the pain, the suffering if we choose to move forward and grow we can make it all worth it.”
By taking clear influence from Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson, and No Doubt while offering reminiscence to contemporaries such as Pale Waves, The Aces, and the most recent incarnation of Miley Cyrus, Lina, and the Lions deliver a cross-generational blend of infectious pop.
The dark layers which permeate Lina and the Lions’ cinematic sound add an Alt-Rock edge without ever overshadowing the instant accessibility. In a time of aural mediocrity, lead singer, bassist, and pianist, Lina Lane, strives to break the mould with her intro-extrovert songwriting. From delicate and raw subject matter; unapologetically powerful art is born.
As well as the new single “Worth the Wait” the band will be releasing a brand new track from their album Second Nature every month throughout 2021 until the album release. Complete with music videos, live performances, and lots of other surprises. 2021 is set to be the year of the Lion!
The dark, serious answer to Mylie’s Blonde mischievous antagonist Lina Lane seeks to provoke people in a different way. Born in Israel, before moving to the North of England as a child Lina Lane has been songwriting from a young age. Influenced by giants such as Michael Jackson, Blondie, and No Doubt, Lina’s artistic vehicle “Lina and the Lions” puts powerful songwriting upfront, backed by emphatic vocals and devoted performances.
