Emily Franke is a 22-year-old independent singer-songwriter and producer. Exploring genres she blends poetic lyrics with sounds classified as indie-folk and pop. Based in the Chicago-land area she recently released “The Summer That Stood Still” sister EP’s and is currently working on a summer project. (Bio courtesy of Emily)

Emily shared what it means to her personally to be an indie music woman artist:

“Being an independent musician to me means being able to create stories and music that are genuine. I love using songwriting like a diary and being able to write about things that weigh on me and see others relate to those lyrics. Writing the song, collaborating, producing, and mixing independently is something super important to me because everything feels more personal. Nothing beats that feeling of creating something you’re proud of with other people just as passionate as you are just for the sake of sharing it.”

About Linda Garnett

Linda Garnett brings a diverse background in the arts to the field of music research and writing. Starting with a mentorship at radio station KFRC in San Francisco, she went on to acquire a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication and an Associate of Arts degree in Music Technology. She has earned a Digidesign operator certificate in Pro Tools post production. Linda is also a published music writer with works appearing in on-line publications such as the Legends of Rock “The ROCKIN’ NEWS”. With exemplary research skills and numerous connections in the music industry, Linda penetrates the veneer of populist opinion to illuminate deeper insights.
