Indie Music Women’s Featured Artist of the Day is…
Heather Batchelor (@heatherbatchelor)
Heather Batchelor is a Nashville based artist and singer-songwriter whose soulful grooves and pop melodies have listeners saying, “you’ve got John Mayer vibes” and “a voice like Sara Bareilles.” And Heather’s latest single, “Roll With Me,” has been described by Lt. Dan from Lightning 100 FM as one word – “quality.”
Growing up in Little Rock, Arkansas, Heather says when she was a young child that “singing felt more natural than talking. […]Music expresses emotions so much clearer than words alone. So, songwriting became my therapy. It’s how I connect to the world and the people around me.” And with her voice being called “silky smooth, sweet and powerful” by RadioSobro’s Eric Stuart, it’s easy to understand why Heather gravitated toward using melodies to convey her feelings.
Heather is known for her intimate listening room performances where she captivates audiences with her contagious hooks and smart lyrics. She has shared the legendary Hotel Cafe stage with LA-based country trio, Honey County, as well as co-written songs with some of Nashville’s finest soul and alt-pop songwriters, such as Ernie Halter.
Currently, Heather is gearing up for the release of her upcoming EP, Who We Are Deep Down (Sept. 18, 2020). She is also looking forward to partnering with some local and national LGBTQ charities and playing some virtual shows & events in support of her new music. Heather shared what it means to her to be an indie music woman artist: ⠀
“In my experience, indie artists and female artists have a crucial common thread. We work hard to rise up, to show that in a sea of commercial music and male-driven success that our voices are valid and influential and needed.”⠀
