Indie Music Women’s Featured Artist of the Day is…⠀
⠀
Rachel Ireland (@rachelirelandmusic)⠀
⠀
Rachel Ireland is a singer-songwriter based in West Yorkshire. A former music student who went on to have a diverse career in both the media and charity sectors, she is now making a return to her roots, recording original music inspired by life and love, the coast and countryside. Her influences are some of the country music greats as well as the more acoustic folk artists from the UK. Her single ‘Red Brick’ – a folk-rock anthem reminiscing about childhood before the digital age, and accompanied by ‘Today’ – a mellow indie-folk song written at the seaside – will be released across all streaming services on January 24th.

Rachel shared with me what it means to her personally to be an indie music woman artist:⠀
“Returning to my first love of music means so much to me, and it’s such an exciting time to be an independent artist. There are so many inspiring female artists to look up to. Of course, a lot has changed since I was last doing this, but I would say that it’s all positive – I am proud to be in complete control of my creativity; of managing the whole process from songwriting and recording through to release. I’ve met and co-written with some amazing musicians and, in a short space of time, feel I have built the perfect team around me. I have chosen to share my music now because it’s such a big part of who I am, and I feel like it’s time, to express that and to be proud of it.“⠀
