Indie Music Women’s Featured Artist of the Day is…
Ayane Yamazaki (@ayane_yamazaki)
Ayane Yamazaki is a 21-year-old Japanese singer-songwriter. When she was 17, she performed at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2016 as the youngest singer-songwriter ever and became a hot topic. She is still the record holder of the youngest singer-songwriter in FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL history.
In Summer 2019, Ayane Yamazaki passed the audition of AWAL, the largest agent in the US and Europe. This is the first achievement for a Japanese woman.
Ayane says, “The song, “Counting on My Fingers”, which will be the first one in the album “LIFE”, was inspired by Japanese city pop in the ’80s, and was completed by the arrangement of gems by the sound producer Kei Maruyama. It was made for the Japanese market, but the response was received in Europe and America first, so I made an English version. The song is about a girl who came to Tokyo from the suburbs and lost her love.
The Japanese version will be the theme song for the LGBTQ movie “become blue”. Directed by 22-year-old Yuya Teramoto, the cast and staff are all young people in their 20s. The movie will be released this year.”
Ayane shared what it means to her personally to be an indie music woman artist with her favorite quote: “Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood.” — Oscar Wilde
