Nancy shared with me what it means to her to be an indie music woman artist:
“Being an indie music artist means being “independent” and having the freedom to write, record, and perform music without financial obligation to a larger organization such as a major label. As an artist, it means being able to direct my music (musical style) and “image” in the best way I see fit without being told how to sound or look. As a womxn / Latinx artist, it means having the responsibility to tell my story, my experience in the best light possible and empower other female Latinx artists to do the same. In doing so I hope to pave the way for a younger generation of female artists that will be allowed to express themselves in any way possible.”
