Electronic Music artist Raven writes songs that don’t fit neatly into one genre. She creates electronic music with a bit of Rap, Dance, EDM, and some Hardstyle. Raven started making electronic music 3 years ago when she became bored with music on the radio. By ignoring what was popular in music, and creating what she wanted, Raven quickly found her style. She bought herself a small home studio and studied audio engineering so she could produce her own music. Raven not only produces but mixes and writes her own music as well. She outsources the mastering aspect to get a fresh perspective and the best out of the songs.
Raven dreamed of becoming a pop star when she was growing up in a small town in Germany. She fell in love with music early on, learning to play the drums. At 16, she joined her first band, Highamp, but the band fell apart once its members left school. Years later, it would be the break-up of a relationship that would inspire Raven to write her first Rap song, “You Say To Me” to deal with her pain, and the very first song Raven rapped on. It features singer Elena K. who originally was to rap on the song, but when she read the very personal lyrics, she thought Raven should rap them instead.
Raven found success along the way when her remix of Benta – Lover in Dark won 2nd place in the official Indaba Music Remix Contest after audience voting. In 2016, Raven’s song “Dance!” won the Grand Prize in Germany’s HOFA’s Songcheck Contest
Raven still enjoys playing drums and when she’s not busy producing her own music, she plays with the band Sugar of the Universe for fun.
Her latest release is Madness, co-written with Newen X.
REVIEW: Newen X feat. Raven – Madness
Raven showcases her talent with this amazing track she co-wrote with Newen X. The melody is energetic; it’s pounding, a driving force that is meant to mimic a madness within your thoughts to challenge your sanity. From the relentless percussion to the insanely ramped up electronic synth mix, combined with Raven’s intense rapping, this is a rollercoaster ride to the dark side. Her emotions ratchet up to a dizzying climax with the beat where you’ll find yourself echoing her sentiment to breathe, to escape the madness that envelopes her. Suddenly, she raps that’s enough and everything abruptly stops except for a punchy solo drum beat. Raven exhales in relief. She thinks this craziness is over, but then there’s this menacing high-pitched laugh at the very end.
REVIEW: You Say To Me ft. Elena K.
Raven pours her heartache from a painful relationship break-up into this track. The song also features Elena K. who provides a beautiful background layer of emotional vocals that when traded off with Raven’s rapping, it sounds like this is a duet. The very personal lyrics cut deep and Raven raps them with a fierce intensity that conveys the rawness and honesty. The tight drums are accompanied by a mix of synth that creates a dark, haunting melody that is the perfect accompaniment to the lyrics.
